Day 1 – July 24 ,2011

      Congratulations to the task commitee, for setting an excellent task for the day. Monroe Peak to Mt. Pleasant.         About 70 pilots launched 61 of them were actual competitors.  Only one sunk out before making a significant climb, about  one third of them made goal.  No incidents and all pilots accounted for. Great work Pilots, Launch crews, Wind Techs and drivers.  A good start.

 

 

The 2011 US Nationals is a two competition series: The Red Rock Nationals (July 24-30) are round one, and The Lone Star Nationals (August 14-20) are round two.

Serial: DHV2/3; EN-D. No modifications

Sport: DHV2/EN-C and under. No modifications.

Location: The primary launch will be the drive-up site Monroe Peak (11200feet/3400meters MSL; GPS coordinates N 38.541151°; W112.073211°). Auxilliary launches for the competition, subject to conditions and site permits, will be the drive-up sites Edna Peak (11500feet/3500meters MSL; GPS coordinates N38.386795°; W 112.332722°) and Cove Mountain (8760feet/2670meters MSL; GPS coordinates: N 38.634247°; W 112.060596°).

Membership Requirements: All contestants must be current USHPA members- no exceptions (Foreign pilots: 30 day membership forms will be available at registration). All contestants will additionally have to join the local USHPA-chapter for insurance reasons (membership forms will be available at registration).

Pilot rating requirements: P4 or P3 with turbulence sign off. 30+ Hrs of thermaling experience and a coached Maneuvers session highly recommended.

Equipment requirements: Paraglider & Harness with back protection, Helmet, Reserve, GPS and Radio capable of receiving and transmitting on all official USHPA frequencies. Supplemental oxygen recommended. SPOT-tracking device recommended.
